If you have ever attended a local fair, one of the more popular attractions is the bouncy castles.

Throwing a Party

Bouncy castles are a staple at children’s birthday parties, parents find it an easy way to keep the kids entertained without costing them a fortune.  They come is so many varieties that they can work with whatever the theme of your party happens to be.

Making the Party a Success

Installing a bounce house really isn’t that hard and if you rent one then it’s more than likely that the rental company will take care of everything for you.  That being said if you have to set up your own here are some step by step instructions.

Keeping Everyone Safe and Having Fun

Here are some tips to keep everyone in the group safe and having a good time:

  1. Get the right size:  If you look online for a rental, kids inflatables and the ones meant for adults look pretty much the same.  Double check the dimensions to make sure you get the right size.  The last thing you want is to throw a corporate event and your bouncy castle arrives and it was meant for toddlers.
  2. Divide everyone into groups: You need to make sure that there aren’t too many people using the bounce house at once. You also want to make sure that everyone playing is roughly the same size.  Having a teenager fall on a toddler can cause serious injury.
  3. Have a chaperone: Either the host of the party or a responsible adult needs to make sure that everyone is following the rules and making sure everybody is safe.
  4. Follow instructions from the company: Every rental company that rents out bounce houses will have their own set of rules and instructions that you need to follow. Read the user manual if there is one it will let you know how many jumpers are allowed on the inflatable along with maximum weight.
  5. No shoes, food or drink: Most companies will tell you that no one should be jumping on the inflatable with shoes on but birthday parties are filled with sticky cakes, ice creams and candy too. Not only should they not take them into the inflatable they should also wash their hands first too.

There you have it, everything you need to throw the perfect party!

Buying Your Own Bouncy Castle

Buying Your Own Bouncy Castle

As adults we sometimes forget what it was like to be a child and we don’t always get the appeal of children’s toys such as a bouncy castle.  For a child a bouncy castle can be the most fun thing ever.  That is one of the reasons the bouncy castle business is booming and you find them at birthday parties everywhere.

Buying Your Own Bouncy Castle

If you have lots of kids or your house is where all of the kids in the neighbourhood come to play then it might be a good idea to actually by your own bounce house rather than spending the money renting every weekend.  There are lots of advantages to owning your own and it may work out to be cheaper in the long run.  You never have to worry about your favorite bounce house being booked when you are having an event.

What to Look for in a Bounce House

If you decide that a bounce house is right for you then there are things that you should be looking for before you whip out your credit card.  It goes without saying that you want something that is well made.  Buying a bouncy castle is a pretty big expense, so spend wisely.  Take into consideration what it is made from and the quality used in putting it together.  Online reviews are a pretty good source for determining if the inflatable you like is worth buying.

Warranties

You want to double check and see if it comes with a warranty and what that includes.  Is insurance included as well or even available as an addon.  Again, this is a big purchase so you want to make sure that you protect yourself as much as possible.  You may even want to check with your home insurance to make sure you have liability coverage just in case.  You do not want to be sued if one of your neighbours hurts themselves bouncing in your back yard.

It also goes without saying that you should actually shop for a bounce house that your kids like. There are plenty of different styles to choose from, anything from animal shapes to an actual castle.  If you’re going to spend the money you should get something the kids want to play with.  Also check out how easy they are to setup and make sure there are instructions on how to do it properly.
