The British-Lebanese lawyer and his mother relaxed after Amal’s speech at the United Nations on Wednesday.
During the tense session, he accused the UN of ignoring possible war crimes committed by Russia amid its ongoing invasion of Ukraine during an informal Security Council meeting.
“Here we are, facing the evidence of crimes of aggression, war crimes, crimes against humanity and every day more evidence of the crime of genocide,” he said during his statement.
He went on to describe Ukraine as a “slaughterhouse” in the “heart of Europe” and expressed concern that evidence of alleged Russian war crimes will only remain in “storage” for years to come.
