Saugerties Farmers Market to host tea party Saturday – Daily Freeman


SAUGERTIES, NY – The Saugerties Farmers Market will be holding a tea party on Saturday, October 15th in the parking lot of Cahill Elementary School, 115 Main St. from 10 am to 2 pm

The event will be a British-style tea in honor of the late Queen of England.

Tea makers, bakers and chefs will offer a tea menu featuring five different hot teas and a selection of savory and sweet products.

The menu is in development with teapot Nancy Messina of OwlsHoot and Co.

Chef Chris Arquiett of Brave the Flames is making tacos. Chef Tom Fisher of Corners is cooking chili. Bakers Kim Fassilis of Kakes a la Kim is baking macaroons, Ashley Madera of Cookie Board is baking tiny cakes, and Our Daily Bread is baking scones.

Anita Barbour, a local artist, is planning a Kids Art Corner project to help children make paper cups and plates, teapots and cookies to celebrate their own paper tea party.

Activities will include face painting with Jen Benepe and live music with singer-songwriter Jim Pospisil.

Shoppers can also dine in the market’s cafeteria or take home food prepared by the market’s chefs.
